The Drnekuša variety, also known as Darnekuša, is indigenous to the islands of the Dalmatian coast. It is genetically related to the Plavac mali and Bogdanuša varieties and is identical to the Glavanjuša variety from the island of Vis. The grape prefers deep, fertile, and permeable soils.

The plant has low resistance to fungal diseases, such as downy mildew and gray mold. The thin skin of the berries requires special care. Wines from this variety are distinguished by a deep ruby color, bright acidity, and aromas of strawberry, cherry, and Mediterranean herbs.
