The variety is a natural hybrid of Tressot noir and Savagnin Blanc, cultivated in the Tarn region since the 15th century. The vine is characterized by upright growth and hard wood. Leaves are pentagonal, five-lobed, and deeply dissected.
Bunches are small or medium, compact, and cylindrical-conical. Berries are small, round, dark blue with a thin waxy bloom, skin is thin, and pulp is juicy. The variety is of mid-season maturity and is characterized by above-average yield.
The plant is prone to early bud burst and is susceptible to downy mildew, powdery mildew, anthracnose, eutypiosis, and black rot. Wine from Duras has a deep color, noticeable acidity, and aging potential.
