Dureza is an indigenous variety from the northern part of the Ardèche department in France. The variety has genetic significance as the paternal parent of the Syrah grape. Currently, widespread commercial use is practically non-existent; the variety is found rarely.

The variety is classified as a wine grape, has a medium to late maturity group, and is characterized by high susceptibility to fungal diseases. Wines produced from it are distinguished by elevated acidity, moderate alcohol content, and aromas of black fruits, purple flowers, and rustic notes.

The variety should be distinguished from the French grape Duras, which is a separate variety from the Tarn region.
