The variety is a hybrid of Merlot and Abouriou. It is a productive and fertile variety capable of adapting to various soil types, while belonging to the mid-season maturity group.
Wines from this variety are characterized as light, with a pronounced "perfumed" bouquet containing herbaceous notes. The variety has not gained wide distribution and is found in limited quantities in experimental plantings in the USA and Switzerland.
