The variety is also known by the breeding number Geisenheim 6414-36. It ripens approximately two weeks earlier than Riesling and is characterized by low sensitivity to soil types, successfully growing in conditions suitable for the Müller-Thurgau variety.
The breeding of the variety was aimed at increasing resistance to phylloxera and fungal diseases. Wines made from it possess a greenish-yellow color and a flavor profile reminiscent of Riesling.
The variety is not widely distributed; small planting areas are recorded in Germany, Canada, Austria, Hungary, and Italy.
