The variety is a descendant of the Furmint variety and has been cultivated since the XVIII century. The name translated from Hungarian means "linden leaf," which reflects the shape of the leaves and the characteristic aroma. In a number of countries, it is also found under the names Lipovina and Lipolist.

Bushes of the variety are vigorous. The grape is sensitive to climatic conditions, poorly tolerates excessive heat and high humidity, and is also susceptible to powdery mildew. The thin skin of the berries allows the variety to be affected by "noble rot," which is necessary for the creation of dessert wines.

Wines from this variety are distinguished by their aroma, elegance, and a softer flavor profile compared to Furmint. Standard practice is cultivation on a trellis.
