The variety was obtained by crossing Portugieser and Limberger. The vines are characterized by very high vigor. The leaf is medium to large, elongated, slightly dissected, three- or five-lobed, with cobwebby pubescence on the underside and a closed petiolar sinus.
Bunches are large, winged. Berries are medium, round, black in color. Yield is medium to above average. The variety prefers warm terroirs and is currently rare; its planting areas in Germany are declining.
Wine from this variety has a ruby color. Taste and aromatic properties are characterized as neutral, soft, fruity, with a full body. The wine material is used to create light, simple red or rosé wines.
