Variety description

A mid-ripening variety with harvest from mid-October to mid-November. The vines are of medium vigor and characterized by high yield. The leaves are medium-sized, rounded in shape, with a five- or seven-lobed structure and deep incisions.

The variety is prone to downy mildew and is sensitive to drought conditions, while shoot maturation is assessed as good. Wines from this variety are distinguished by their light character, moderate alcohol content, and fruity notes, often with a hint of violet.

It is known under a number of synonyms, including Dame noire, Arrivet, Chalosse noire, and Folle noire. It is currently considered a rare variety, preserved in certain appellations of southwest France.
