The variety was obtained by crossing the Bouvier and Harslevelü varieties. The vines have moderate vigor; the variety is resistant to winter frosts but is susceptible to fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and downy mildew. Sensitivity to rot in unfavorable weather conditions is also noted.
Due to the thick skin of the berries, the variety is suitable for the production of Aszú-type wines, as it is less prone to cracking during late rains. In blends, it imparts linden blossom and honey notes to wines, while single-varietal dry wines are characterized by minerality and tones of pear and citrus.
