The Maraština variety, also known by the synonym Kaćadebić, presumably belongs to the Malvasia group. It is widely distributed in Italy, from where it was brought to the territory of modern Croatia, and is known by many other names, such as Rukatac, Marašćin, Kukuruz, Višana, and Malvasia bianca lunga.
This variety is a wine variety and is used in winemaking. Its distinguishing feature is its ability to accumulate high levels of sugar, especially during late harvesting or partial withering of the berries on the vine. This allows for the production of wines with high alcohol content, often of the semi-dry type.
