The variety is an ancient autochthonous species that practically disappeared after the phylloxera epidemic at the end of the 19th century and was preserved in the collections of research institutes. In the early 2000s, the variety was revived and is currently authorized in Hungary for experimental plantings.

Wine from this variety is distinguished by its lightness, low tannin content, and good acidity. The flavor profile is characterized as intensely fruity and spicy, with dominant notes of red berries. Due to the low content of coloring substances in the skin, the wine has a light color, which determines its potential for use in the production of light red or sparkling wines.
