Variety description

The variety is functionally female, which causes poor self-pollination and requires the planting of pollinator varieties. The yield of the variety is low and unstable, and it is considered difficult to cultivate.

Kéknyelű is susceptible to downy mildew and prone to flower abortion, yet it shows resistance to frost and gray mold. Historically, the variety is associated with the Badacsony wine region.

Wines made from this grape possess high acidity, full body, pronounced minerality, and are suitable for long aging.
