Mekuja (or Mekuja bijela) is a rare traditional variety adapted to the Mediterranean climate. According to the VIVC classification, the variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera L. subsp. sativa and has a white berry.
The variety is a wine grape and was historically planted along the edges of vineyards where the main variety was another species. Currently, it is used in white wine blends together with the Bogdanuša, Prč, and Cetinka varieties; attempts to produce varietal wines in limited batches are undertaken less frequently.
