The Melara B. variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera and has the status of a white wine grape. It is a traditional variety grown in the Colli Piacentini zone and is of natural origin.

The grape is used in winemaking, in particular in the production of Vin Santo di Vigoleno, for which the berries undergo a preliminary drying stage on racks. Scientific research examines this variety in the context of biodiversity and adaptation to climate change, comparing its acidity and sugar content indicators with the Ortrugo variety.
