The Muscat group of varieties belongs to one of the most ancient cultivated grape species, presumably originating from the Mediterranean. For most representatives, the presence of linalool in the skin and pulp of the berries is characteristic, creating a recognizable aroma. The color of the berries varies from greenish-yellow to dark purple.

The varieties of the group are distinguished by their demanding nature regarding growing conditions, require an abundance of solar heat, and are susceptible to fungal diseases in conditions of high humidity. Ripening times vary from early to late. The grapes are used universally: both for table consumption and in winemaking for the creation of dry, sparkling, and dessert wines.
