The variety belongs to the Muscat family and is a natural variation of Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains. The name of the variety indicates the presence of small berries, and its distinguishing feature is the reddish hue of the skin of the fruits, which are gathered in dense clusters.

The grapes are used primarily in winemaking. The variety's products are characterized by a pronounced Muscat aroma with notes of fruit and spices. The variety is considered ancient, having arisen as a result of natural mutations, and is often found under the synonym Muscat Rose, while it is not identical to Muscat Noir.
