The variety is considered one of the most ancient cultivated forms of grape, originating from Mediterranean countries or Western Asia. The vines are characterized by strong growth. Leaves are medium-sized, round, 3- or 5-lobed, and deeply dissected.
Bunches are medium-sized, weighing about 100–110 g, have a cylindrical or cylindrical-conical shape, and are often noted for their density. Berries are medium-sized, round, and acquire a golden-yellow color upon ripening. The pulp is delicate and possesses a pronounced muscat aroma.
The variety is of mid-season maturity and is demanding of heat and light. As a classic representative of the species Vitis vinifera, it is characterized by sensitivity to major fungal diseases and phylloxera, and requires regular protection and trellising.
