The vines are characterized by vigorous growth. Leaves are medium, rounded or three-lobed, with dense tomentose pubescence on the underside. Bunches are medium, conical, and dense. Berries are medium, rounded, dark blue in color, covered with an abundant waxy bloom, and have thick skin.
The variety is demanding regarding the sum of active temperatures and requires hot summers; it ripens poorly in cool regions. Resistance to fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew and downy mildew, is low. It is relatively undemanding regarding soils, preferring deep clay or chalky sites.
The yield of the variety varies from 60 to 200 c/ha depending on irrigation conditions. Wines made from this grape are distinguished by a deep color, a high level of tannins, and an aromatic profile with notes of dark berries, black pepper, spices, leather, and truffle.
