The variety originates from the southern part of the Massif Central or the southwestern regions of France. It is included in the official catalog of grape varieties, but is extremely rare, found only in old or restored vineyards.
The designation of the variety indicates dark blue berries. The use of the variety is limited; it is permitted as an additional component in the production of certain local wines, where it is blended with other varieties, such as Fer Servadou or Merlot.
Detailed agronomic descriptions, including data on maturity and disease resistance, are absent. The use of the variety in modern winemaking is aimed primarily at preserving genetic diversity.
