The variety was obtained by crossing the Schiava Grossa and Muscat of Alexandria varieties. Clusters are medium to large, conical, and well-filled. Berries are large or medium, oval, blue-black in color, with firm skin and juicy pulp possessing a distinct muscat aroma.

The plant is considered undemanding but is susceptible to damage by birds and insects. In Germany, under the name Muskat Trollinger, the variety is used for the production of rosé and red wines with a subtle muscat tone, as well as table grapes.
