The variety is autochthonous to the Istria region and, according to the results of genetic analysis, is identical to the variety Moscato Rosa (Rosenmuskateller). It is believed that it originated as a result of a natural cross between an unknown variety and Muscat Blanc.
The plant has a functionally female flower type and is characterized by low yield. The berries have a red or pink skin color, which determines the specifics of wine production using long maceration.
The variety is aromatic; its wines are distinguished by a persistent aroma with notes of rose, jasmine and cranberry, possessing a color ranging from pale red to ruby. Information on disease resistance in open sources is absent.
