The variety has ancient origins, presumably from Greece. It belongs to folk selection and is not a product of modern targeted breeding. The vegetation period is classified as early or early-mid depending on growing conditions.
The plant's leaves are usually medium or large, five-lobed. Clusters are characterized as medium, cylindrical or cylindrical-conical in shape, and dense. Berries are medium-sized, round, and turn yellow-gold or pinkish-brown upon ripening. The variety possesses moderate vigor and yield, and is sensitive to diseases, especially in cool and humid climates.
The variety is strictly a wine grape and is used for creating high-quality dry, sparkling, dessert, and fortified wines. The products are valued for a pronounced muscat profile with notes of peach, apricot, citrus, flowers, and honey.
