The variety is historic and was recovered after near-total extinction thanks to genetic analysis methods and ampelographic studies. In literature, it is also encountered under the synonym Pampolat Girat.
It belongs to wine grape varieties. In the climatic conditions of Castellón province, it ripens earlier than the Tempranillo variety. Wines from this grape are distinguished by high acidity and freshness, as well as herbaceous tones and notes of red fruits.
