The variety is autochthonous to the Campania region and has medium vigor. Traditionally, the plant is trained on trellises or pergolas. Leaves are round, five-lobed, and deeply incised. Bunches are medium to large in size, cylindrical-conical, often with two wings, and of medium density.
Berries are medium to large in size, round in shape, and dark blue, almost black in color with a thick waxy bloom and thick skin. The maturity group is medium or early-medium; harvesting is usually carried out in October.
The plant has good resistance to powdery mildew (Oidium), but is susceptible to downy mildew (Mildew). Wines from this grape are distinguished by a deep ruby color, fresh acidity, and soft tannins; they are often used in blends to add fruit notes to the beverage.
