The variety was obtained by crossing Vitis riparia and Vitis berlandieri species. The bushes are characterized by vigorous growth and form thick vines with long internodes. The flowers are functionally female, the cuttings possess satisfactory rooting ability and graft well with scions.
The rootstock shows high resistance to the root form of phylloxera and fungal diseases, as well as moderate resistance to the leaf form of phylloxera. The variety is recommended for use as a base for cultivated grape varieties, in particular for Ugni Blanc, demonstrating endurance in soils with a total carbonate content of up to 40%.
