The variety originates from the Balkan region, presumably from Dalmatia, and is genetically the result of a natural cross between an unknown variety and Muscat Blanc. It is a wine variety that can also be used as a table grape.

The plant has functionally female flowers and requires cross-pollination. The clusters are characterized by a loose structure. The variety is susceptible to fungal diseases, such as grey mold, due to the thin skin of the berries.

The berries have a pronounced muscat aroma with notes of rose. Wines made from this grape are distinguished by a complex aromatic profile with hints of wild berries, spices, and flowers, as well as a specific ruby color, which depends on the duration of maceration.
