The Sabro variety is a descendant of the Hebén variety and is grown primarily on the island of La Palma. It is a wine grape variety used both for creating single-varietal wines and in blends with Gual and Malvasía varieties to provide the drinks with structure and lively acidity.
The clusters are long and compact, and the berry skin has a bright yellow color. A characteristic feature of the grape is its high level of acidity, and scientific research includes the study of its susceptibility to fungal diseases, such as downy mildew and powdery mildew.
