The variety belongs to the species Vitis vinifera. It is a natural hybrid of the Pinot and Gouais Blanc varieties. In the Auvergne region, it is known by the synonym Tressallier. The vines possess high growth vigor, and the variety is characterized by high yield and a medium-late maturity group.

The leaves of the variety can be entire or five-lobed; the berries are small and round. The grapes are for technical use and are utilized for the production of wines, often in blends, as well as for creating sparkling wines. The finished wines are distinguished by high acidity, light color, moderate alcohol content, and aromas of pear, green apples, and white flowers.
