The variety is a descendant of Gouais blanc and is intended exclusively for winemaking. Wines made from it are characterized as ordinary, with low alcohol and acid content, and are sometimes used in the production of sparkling wines.
The variety is early-ripening, maturing two weeks after the Chasselas variety. It has large bunches and medium-sized, round berries. Leaves are round, entire or three-lobed. It shows medium vigor and good productivity, requiring moderate pruning.
The variety is susceptible to grey mold, while being relatively resistant to powdery mildew and downy mildew. It does not tolerate late spring frosts. Currently, the variety is practically not used in commercial winemaking and is preserved mainly in collection plantings.
