The «Самсон» grape is a table hybrid form with an early-mid maturity group and a vigorous vine. The clusters are very large, weighing 900–1500 g, with medium density. The berries are red-lilac in color, large, weighing 18–25 g, elongated-oval or cylindrical in shape, with firm, crunchy pulp and a harmonious sweet taste. The flower is hermaphroditic, frost resistance is down to –23 °C.

The «Samsó» grape is a wine variety which is a synonym for the Carignan variety. It is used for the production of red wines in Spain and Catalonia. The vine is characterized by high productivity; the berries are small, dark or black in color. The name «Samsó» can also be mistakenly applied to the Cinsaut variety.
