Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety originates from the village of Santameri in the Achaia region on the Peloponnese peninsula. It has the synonyms Asprouda Patron, Asprouda Patras, and Asprouda of Patras. In the 20th century, the variety was practically lost, but is currently in the process of revival.

White wine grape variety. The bunches are medium-sized, the berries are round in shape with thin skin, the color of which changes from green to straw-yellow and golden upon ripening. The harvest takes place in mid-September.

It is grown under biodynamic and organic farming conditions at an altitude of 400–600 meters above sea level on loamy soils with shale rock. Wines from this variety possess an intense fruity aroma, refreshing acidity, and mineral character.
