Variety description

The variety is genetically identical to the Spanish variety Mollar. The plant possesses high growth vigor and the ability to adapt to various microclimates. Leaves are predominantly wedge-shaped, medium-dissected, without pubescence on the underside.

Bunches are compact, cylindrical-conical in shape. Berries are black or dark-purple in color, round or oval, and medium-sized. The presence of a thick skin provides the variety with a certain level of resistance.

It is used for the production of all four sweetness categories of Madeira wine. The flavor and aroma profile of the wines includes notes of dark fruits, chocolate, spices, and herbs.
