Variety description

The variety is a natural hybrid resulting from the crossing of Hebén and Alfrocheiro varieties. It is an ancient cultivar, known in Portugal since the 19th century, which is sometimes mistakenly confused with the Tamarez variety.

The plant has moderate vigor and hermaphroditic flowers. The bunches are medium-sized and conical in shape, the berries are round, greenish-yellow with soft flesh. The variety shows resistance to downy mildew, but is highly susceptible to grey mold.

Wines from this variety are characterized by freshness and good texture, and are often used in blends to adjust acidity. The aroma is dominated by nuances of herbs, pear, lemon, and tropical fruits.
