The process of Kalanchoe propagation by cuttings requires that the cut be dried in the shade for two to three days to form a callus, which is necessary to protect the plant from rotting. For stem cuttings, a length of 7–10 cm is considered optimal, with the cut made at a 45-degree angle to increase the root formation surface. In some species, such as Kalanchoe blossfeldiana, the presence of already formed aerial roots on the stem significantly accelerates the establishment process.

The root system of Kalanchoe is highly sensitive to excessive moisture; therefore, well-draining substrates based on peat, perlite, and sand should be used for rooting. Unlike many ornamental crops, high humidity and direct contact with water are detrimental to Kalanchoe, making overwatering unacceptable. Due to their succulent nature, the cuttings maintain viability for a long time, utilizing stored resources from the fleshy leaves until their own root system has fully developed.
