The two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae is a dangerous pest of strawberry that feeds on cell sap and causes deformation, yellowing, and premature drying of leaves.

The pest Tetranychus urticae is localized mainly on the underside of the leaf blade, leaving characteristic light-colored puncture marks on the upper surface. As the mite feeds, the leaves acquire an olive or bronze hue and become wrinkled, and in cases of mass infestation, plants are covered with a thin web.
The infestation leads to a decrease in the overall vitality of the bushes, a reduction in crop quality, and low winter hardiness. At the moment, specific races of the pest or resistance genes in strawberry cultivars have not been identified; therefore, varietal assessment is carried out based on the degree of leaf damage and the mite reproduction rate.
