The optimal harvesting periods for hay and haylage are the flowering phase and the beginning of lower pod formation, as delayed mowing leads to stem coarsening and a decline in forage quality.
The cultivation technology for this crop requires the mandatory use of cereal components as support for the vetch's thin stems, which facilitates mechanized harvesting and allows for balancing animal rations with carbohydrates.
