Turnip Yield

During state variety trials, turnip yield is recorded on plots with multiple replications, with values for individual varieties reaching 4–4.9 kg/m² given an average potential of up to 30 tons per hectare. To evaluate productivity, the ratio of root crop mass to the total plant mass, including the foliage, is used.

The final indicator is significantly influenced by maintaining the planting density with a seeding rate of 5 kg/ha, protection against pests such as the crucifer flea beetle and cabbage root fly, and the timing of harvest. Overgrowth of root crops leads to a decrease in their marketability, while the use of early-maturing varieties allows for increased seasonal productivity through double cropping.
