A natural protective formation on the surface of plum fruits, which serves as a quality indicator during variety testing and protects the harvest from transpiration, pests, and fungal infections.

The wax bloom performs a hydrophobic function, preventing excessive moisture loss and limiting surface wettability, which hinders pathogen development and pest attachment.
