The SAV1 rootstock originates from the Bounty 71 clone and is used for growing kiwi in difficult soil conditions. It possesses a vigorous, deep taproot system, which provides plant resistance to root asphyxia due to waterlogging and helps combat vine decline syndrome.

The plant demonstrates good compatibility with various commercial green and yellow kiwi fruit varieties. As SAV1 is a rootstock, it is not intended for fruit production; therefore, maturity indicators or taste characteristics are not defined for it.
