The shrub has a compact, neat, columnar or broadly columnar crown with straight vertical shoots. The height of a mature plant is 0.5–1.2 m with a width of 0.4–0.6 m.
Small leaves have a rounded or ovate shape. Young foliage is colored coral-pink, mature foliage is dark burgundy with a narrow golden margin. Small yellow flowers appear in May-June, and red oblong berries ripen in late summer.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness (zone 5, down to -25°C), is resistant to drought, heat, and urban conditions. It tolerates pruning well and prefers sunny sites and moderately moist, well-drained soils.
