The mature plant reaches a height of 0.4–0.9 m with a crown width of up to 1 m. Small egg-shaped leaves have an orange-red color when unfolding, turn purple-red in summer, and acquire fiery shades in autumn. In May, the shrub blooms with small yellowish or pinkish flowers and forms decorative red fruits.
The variety is characterized by high resistance to diseases and urban conditions, as well as winter hardiness in USDA zones 4–5. The plant is light-loving and undemanding to soil, but requires good drainage and does not tolerate waterlogging. It responds well to shearing and formative pruning.
