The shrub has a compact, dense, slightly irregular hemispherical crown. The height and width of the plant are about 0.7 m. Young seedlings grow vertically, with age the side shoots elongate and droop. Leaves are medium-sized, spatulate in shape, rounded.
The foliage color changes dynamically: in spring it is dark orange with yellow spots, in summer the shoots turn red, and the inner leaves turn green. In May, the shrub blooms with small yellow flowers; in the second half of summer, small red berries ripen.
The plant is light-loving, tolerates urban garden conditions and various soil types well, preferring medium and permeable soils ranging from slightly acidic to neutral. It possesses high frost resistance and does not require special pruning, other than sanitary.
