The origin of the variety is linked both to the natural crossing of jalapeno with ancho or mulato type peppers, and to the appearance of brown fruits in plantings of classic red jalapenos. The plant is distinguished by a compact bush size and early ripening.
The fruits of this variety are large, elongated in shape, lack a blunt tip, and often have a pronounced corky pattern on the skin. Due to the fleshy walls, the variety is suitable for stuffing, baking, pickling, and making salsa.
