Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a local genetic resource of the European chestnut. Its fruit is widely used in cooking for the preparation of desserts, soups, and fillings, as well as for flour production.

Studies of the biochemical composition of the variety's kernel show that its glucose content can exceed its sucrose content, which is a specific characteristic of this genotype. The variety is included in regional registers and collections of chestnut genetic diversity in Italy.
