Variety description

The variety is autochthonous to the island of Corsica and is cultivated in mountainous regions at an altitude of 200 to 900 meters above sea level. The fruits are of the marron type, small to medium in size, elliptical in shape with characteristic shoulders, and are colored reddish-brown with black stripes.

The variety is characterized by a late maturity period with a sufficiently compressed timeframe. The fruits are suitable for canning, making jams, glazed chestnuts, and liqueurs, however, the variety is poorly adapted to mechanical peeling and is susceptible to chestnut weevil infestation.
