Variety description

10 August 2026

The Capannaccia variety is an industrial type grown predominantly in the Garfagnana region of Tuscany. It is a local folk landrace formed through centuries of selection, the cultivation traditions of which date back to the 11th century.

The fruits contain phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and about 10.30 mg GAE/g of total phenol. The variety is traditionally used as raw material for the production of chestnut flour, which holds PDO status.
