The variety is a traditional genetic heritage of the Asturias region. It is a long-lived deciduous tree included in official registers and collections of genetic resources.

The fruits of the variety are suitable for fresh consumption, as well as the production of purées, jams, and flour. The variety possesses the «longiestaminado» character due to the presence of long stamens, which allows it to be effectively used as a pollinator.
