The BROMPTON rootstock is classified as Prunus domestica and is used for growing plums, peaches, and apricots. It is not a hybrid of Prunus davidiana and Prunus persica, and reports to the contrary erroneously confuse it with other types of rootstocks undergoing current research.

Trees on this rootstock are distinguished by vigorous growth and have a developed root system, ensuring stability in the soil. The rootstock adapts well to most soil conditions and possesses moderate tolerance to waterlogging, although it exhibits susceptibility to certain diseases.

The productivity of trees grafted on BROMPTON can vary and in a number of comparative trials shows lower indicators compared to modern intensive forms of rootstocks.
