The variety was discovered as a chance seedling in the Sagunto area in Spain. In France, the variety is known by the name Bulida du Roussillon.

In scientific literature, the variety is examined in the context of research on compatibility with rootstocks. It is noted that its compatibility with certain clonal rootstocks, for example INRA Marianna GF 8-1, may be unsatisfactory.
