The plant reaches 1.5–2.2 meters in height and 1.2–1.5 meters in width. The shoots are strong, erect, of an intense red or dark burgundy color. The inflorescences are broadly pyramidal, 25–35 cm long. Flowering is prolonged, lasting from June or July to October.
The color of the inflorescences changes during the season: initially they are cream-white, gradually acquiring a pink hue, becoming deep pink or raspberry-red by the end of the season, while the top often remains light. The plant possesses high winter hardiness, withstanding frosts down to –29…–34 °C.
